Zheng Rong, Partner and Healthcare Studio Leader at Robarts Spaces, presented recent learnings on innovative Sustainability in Design at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. Faculty and students were present for this open and illuminating discussion on a range of projects, and included not just the design process but also the unity required to co-create sustainable spaces that are meaningful, beautiful, and salutogenic.

Robarts Spaces hosted the first event in our series “In Conversation” on November 28 in our Beijing office. The vision of these events is to provide a space for conversations on design, particularly as related to work, learning, wellness, sustainability, community, and culture. This first event focused on “The Design Process”, with participants engaging in five experiential installations, each featuring a unique design project. As teams shared their design journey with collaborators, vibrant conversations emerged. Several participants expressed their appreciation of having the opportunity to observe, learn, and reflect on the creative process of design in immersive, visual and tactile installations, and were impressed by how inspiration emerges and, when accompanied by a spirit of collaboration, is beautifully interpreted into spaces that affect our work, learning, and wellness.

The firm’s Shenzhen office is also home to the highly strategic KWM International Center which follows the national development strategy in the Greater Bay Area and provides a center to better serve clients’ needs as they explore opportunities in the region. As one of the most innovative law firms globally, KWM aims for its Shenzhen office to explore new and meaningful ways of working to maximize the wellbeing of their staff and efficiency. The resulting design takes full advantage of the office’s unique circular layout which provides 360-degree panoramic water views. The flowing lines on the ceiling and the blue, green, and sand tones on the floor harmonize and evoke the outdoor environs’ blue and green sea transitioning to the sandy beaches.

Silvia Minciarelli recently participated in the Kvadrat Leadership Forum held in Lisbon, Portugal on September 26-27. Leaders of design firms from multiple continents engaged in inspiring, in-depth conversations and workshops, facilitated by Harvard Business School professor Boris Groysberg, on building and leading great teams, change, and culture.
